The artist takes leaves and trees encountered in her travels and everyday life, along with walls and windows, and expresses them through various mediums in her ode to nature. She highlights the serene and lyrical elements of nature – akin to an evening serenade sung by a lover – through warm colors and soft brush strokes.
The spaces between branches and leaves, between rocks, between flowers and leaves, and the sky seen through openings between leaves are depicted with vivid colors and delicate lines. In this exhibition, the artist was particularly inspired by scenes of nature seen through and over windows, gaps, and walls, and has captured them by combining a wide variety of materials and techniques of rubbing, scraping, and repeatedly painting multiple layers. The lines do not conform to a uniform width or length as they fall freely along diverse patterns. From the artist’s perspective, each of the subjects do not exist in isolation; as they interact and form relations, they are communicating through both time and space.
